Fishing & Milling
Whatever is stuck in your well, we'll get it out.
Downhole obstructions cost operators thousands of dollars per hour in rig time. WellsRX fishing teams are equipped and mobilisation-ready to minimise that window.
What is "fishing" and "milling"?
In oilfield terms, "fishing" is the recovery of any obstruction in a wellbore, known as a "fish". A fish can be unplanned: parted drill string, dropped hand tools, stuck BHAs, or failed downhole equipment. Or it can be planned: retrieving packers, plugs, or obsolete downhole assemblies that need to be replaced.
Where fishing alone cannot recover the obstruction, milling is used to grind the fish into cuttings small enough to be circulated out of the well, leaving the wellbore clear and ready to continue operations.
Our solutions
Stuck pipe & BHA recovery
Free your string and recover your bottom hole assembly before the situation escalates. Our recovery specialists combine precise diagnosis, proven jar systems, and purpose-built fishing tools to release stuck pipe and retrieve your BHA with minimal additional NPT.
Milling & washover
Mill through or wash over irrecoverable fish when retrieval is not an option. Our milling and washover tools deliver controlled, consistent cuts with premium inserts, clearing the wellbore and restoring access to your well.
Impact & impulse tools
Deliver powerful, controlled jarring force to free stuck pipe and dislodge stubborn fish. Our impact and impulse tool selection covers both mechanical and hydraulic options, giving you the right energy source for the formation and stuck point conditions.
Junk retrieval
Recover dropped tools, bit cones, and foreign objects from the wellbore cleanly and efficiently. Our junk retrieval toolkit is matched precisely to your fish so you retrieve first run and get back to drilling.
